Apparantly I suck at blogging....who knew?? Actually I think you can pretty much blame facebook for my lack of appearances on here as of late. Its just so easy to pop on there, post a quick pick, list an event, etc. I know, excuses excuses. Beyond that, this has been one of those truly trying years. A lot of ups and downs, we bought a house, I lost an organ...you know, the normal highs and lows lol, . Blogging sometimes is the furthest thing from my mind...however...I plan to restart. Seriously!! I know I know..

Anyway, first and foremost, I must mention the annual Sudan Bazaar family portrait special coming up. December 4th, 10am-2pm at the Avenue, Ginghamsburg church. For a minimum of $10 donation, you can receive a mini session, and 5x7 of your choice. There will be other options available. All proceeds go to the Sudan and also this year, to missions right here in Dayton Ohio. If you haven't been able to pin me down for a family session this year, its a great opportunity and for a great cause. In years past, Jenny Lin and I have been able to donate around the $400-700 range, we would love to grow this number even more, so help us make it happen!!! You do not have to be a Ginghamsburg attendee to come out. In addition to our booth, there will be lots of arts and crafts, food, and a silent auction(that for real is the bomb). We will see you there!!!

OK, so I promise to do better at this blogging thing. AT LEAST once a week....just throwing it out there. I CAN DO IT I CAN DO IT.

I love it when my wedding couples come back with their babies :) Everyone should recognize Veronica as the "airplane bride" on my site. Veronica was also one hot pregnant mama,lol. I got the unique opportunity to photograph her belly growing once a month, since daddy was deployed, she didn't want him to miss a thing. What a cool experience. I looked forward to seeing her progress every month, and even more so, when baby "N" made her appearance. (She waited for daddy to come home first, how sweet ;) She is a beauty and has already learned to "smile with her eyes" hehe, she gets that from her mama :D

The Layla Grace Cancer Research Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to discovering new treatments for children diagnosed with high-risk cancer through donations, events, and community outreach. We stand apart with our positive approach of arming families with the resources to guide them through the treatment journey.

What is a portrait party? Its a mini session, with discounted prices and products for one day only. The cost of each session will be $75 and will go directly to the Layla Grace Cancer Research Foundation. In exchange for your $75 donation, you will receive a 20 minute mini session at one of two locations . You can choose between a studio session at Sharon Elaine or you can choose an outdoor session at a park near the studio. You will also receive 1 8x10 of choice along with 3 digital images on CD. One of my favorite couples is expecting! Have you ever seen a more gorgeous pregnant woman?? Sooo jealous, I was as big as a house, both pregnancies! :P Only Jen could get away with sporting a pair of high heeled boots with her baby belly and still look amazing! I cant wait til baby B gets here!

I'm anxious to start shooting outside again. I'm tired of being confined to the studio :) I have some great things around the corner for Spring!!

It has been awhile since I have had a chance to team up with Lisa Welch Designs. We have been trying to get together for months, and finally things seemed to come together. Lisa has a new addition to her dog and owner collection. Now, she has something to offer the horse lovers. We had a beautiful day for the shoot, along with a beautiful model and a gorgeous champion Saddlebred. Check it out! Everytime I see Lisa's pieces I am so impressed. Her attention to detail and the quality of her jewelry are amazing. Each piece is so solid, I love it, you really have to see and feel it in person.

I know I have been a horrible blogger lately. Believe me there have been a ton of sessions I would love to be sharing, but I have little time to do so these days. So... I just met these adorable creatures at Ault Park. I have always wanted to do a session there and I finally had the opportunity. I was not disappointed! I could have taken these two home with me. Can they seriously get any cuter?

Marizol's Quinceanera-LA, California

Last week I had the amazing opportunity to travel to California to document a dear girl's transformation into a young woman. I first met Marizol 2 years ago when she came to visit family (her aunt is a zumba friend ;) We joked around then about me flying out to cali to photograph her Quinceanera. Little did I know that a little joking around would actually come true :D So...the boys and I flew out last week and not only did I get the chance to photograph this amazing event, but I finally got to meet a dear friend I have known for years but had never actually met in person. AND we spent almost 5 days together with my two boys and her two boys. You can't even imagine what an amazing week it was, it didnt last nearly long enough (Mililani I still miss you!!!)

Anyway..the day started out with a little hair and makeup prep

The ceremony was very touching, I love how she is escorted down the aisle by her Chambelan de honor

My favorite part of the ceremony was when Marizol offered a bouquet of flowers and sang to the Virgin, she has a beautiful voice

ok so you may recognize Heather, Ive been sharing images of her for years as the model for Lisa Welch Designs. I have known Heather for awhile since we used to work together at the old GS *flashing my gang sign here*..ok yeah not really,lol. I couldnt be more happy and excited for her to get married! We had a lot of fun with their epics at Wegerzyn. Its quickly become a favorite park of mine to shoot this year. After park pics we snuck in a little urban scenery at the Oregon District. David is great, especially for Heather, so I am very excited for their wedding next year!

Nikki and Kevin....

I have known Nikki now since...the 6th grade I think. She has gone on to do some most impressive things (including just receiving her PhD, wtg Nikki!!) but most impressively has stayed the same lovely genuine person she always has been. I was honored to be a part of her big day, which included the most beautiful backyard wedding a girl could ever dream of. The wedding was literally minutes from my house, but I would have never known as soon as I drove up. The details were stunning (her mother is a genius), the house something out of a magazine...even better? A steel drum band..I felt like I was somewhere troipical if I closed my eyes haha...God knows it was hot enough! :P

Anyway, she and Kevin...*sigh* so in love, every moment of the wedding so heartfelt. They were surrounded by so many that genuinely love them both so much, so happy they had found each other. People from all over flocked to their wedding in little Vandalia Ohio...that is also impressive, but just goes to show what kind of people Nikki and Kevin are, that someone would come all the way from Germany, etc to see them get married.

Lets start off with some details...there were so many, but heres a few of my favs

This is probably one of my favorite wedding ideas I have seen, someone was stationed at the entrance to capture photos of the guests coming in, and they were printed and hung on these cute little trees with a message, instead of your normal everyday guestbook :)

77 days of summer

Summer is here, and I have decided to work on a small personal project. The things that brought me to photography in the first place seem to be the things I photograph the least these days...the boys, my life, our trips and activities, etc.

The boys and I sat down friday afternoon and came up with a Bucket List for the summer (thanks Melissa for the awesome idea :) and today we got a start on the list with a trip to the lake to go fishing. It was so nice and relaxing, we had a really good time. Its these moments I long for. As for my project, I have vowed to keep a camera with me every day and will share one photo a day for 77 days. I probably wont blog every single one, but I will share it in an album on facebook :) I am most looking forward to sharing our trip to California in August, I am so excited! Thanks for reading :)

Ive had a lot of babies hit that 1 yr milestone recently. So if you see me around town and wonder why I have that glazed look in my eyes, its really exhaustion from chasing these little people around,lol. Parents I applaud you. After awhile you forget how busy they are at this age. You would think as a mother of "shiny object boy" that I would be a little more prepared. :D I think Rocky had it all wrong chasing chickens around, Mickey should have given him a couple of toddlers and he would have kicked Apollo's butt in the first round.

Little Miss Spunky

I can't believe its been a whole year since this little booger was born. Her mommy and I have been friends for a long time, and I was so excited for them when she got pregnant, and especially excited when they found out it was a girl (cause guess who loves to buy girly clothes??) The whole time she was pregnant, we tried our best to avoid any conversation related to my dealing with NILMDTS, so when Katy called to tell me that Miss J had made her entrance into the world, but there had been complications, my heart sank. I went home and cried, TERRIFIED I was going to have to do a NILMDTS session for another friend.(which I did NOT share with her until much later) Thank God, I didn't have to, because little Miss Spunky pulled through it all, and as you can see is a-okay ;) I swear she gets cuter everytime I see her.

TOUCHDOWN!...she entertained an entire coffee shop with this trick,lol.

I love her funny sad faces...lol

She had cake, but Im not sure what she really thought of it. At least we managed to get some smiles before total meltdown :D She's had enough of me and my camera.

How one little tiny person, can light up your entire world. This image makes me cry, a good happy cry, but one of those, feel the lump in the back of your throat, eyes well up with a big grin kind of cry.

Anyone who knows Nick, Andrea and Essie, should feel the same. So, little peanut is now 2 yrs old, and such a big girl. She is full of her own ideas, and is a very very busy little bee,lol. We didn't see much of this happening during the session

Places my eyes like to land

Can we chat?? This is a Tara Whitney inspired blog. Awhile back Tara posted pics of some sweet spots in her house, and funny thing is, her style reminded me a little of my own, (although clearly not as awesome as Tara) so I decided to do my own. When the boys and I moved a year ago, we gained an extra room we didnt have before. I think besides gaining a garage, I was the most excited about this extra room. Finally a room I could claim for myself, a room with a front window view( I hadnt had a front window in....years, sounds weird I know), a room I could escape for a little quiet time. I dont really have a home office, the boys highjacked my desk a long time ago, so this is the room I work on my laptop, watch a little TV, drink tea and read...ok so I dont read much anymore, although I *am* actually trying to read a little bit of this book Change the World, by Michael Slaughter, everyday. (It is my goal to finish it before the kids graduate)

Another struggle I have had for the last year...ok mom, more than a year....is keeping my house as tidy as I would like. So, I practice denial, by strategically placing little gems around my sanctuary, so I can focus on those instead of reality :D .....It works, sometimes

If you have followed my blog for awhile, you may have noticed that my lone vintage camera collection has grown to many.(this isnt even all of them :/) I think I may have a problem,lol. Some people call it hoarding, I try to call it decorating. Honestly I am not very good at decorating, I have a mismatch style. I kind of like to think its what the inside of my brain must be like :P Eh...who cares, I like my "stuff"

Another perk to our new place, although I guess since we have been here a year its not new, is the gardening. Let me clarify....once upon a time, a cute little old lady lived here who had a green thumb, and she grew wonderfully beautiful things. Things that for some reason, keep coming up and growing, even though I have a history of killing plants just by breathing. But alas! I have flowers! AND I have a Peach Tree. A peach tree which just happens to be sick I think. Last year it only grew 3 blooms, one of which actually grew something baring a slight resemblance to a fruit. After some minor surgery last summer, resulting in a few less limbs (the tree not me ;) this spring, the tree was FULL of big beautiful blooms. I dream at night of being Suzie Homemaker and having jars of yummy peach preserves. Uh, yeah who am I kidding. So I just want the tree to grow a peach. *A* PEACH, an actual edible peach. And then I can boast of being some super human being that GROWS things....besides mold. I am good at growing mold,lol.

My tree is also resting place to many birds. The boys and I like to bird watch. Our favorites are the cardinals, but this guy caught my eye one day. I wish I had the camera around the day I looked out the window just in time to see a squirrel hanging for dear life from the bird feeder, desperately trying to feed himself, poor guy,lol.

Anyway...theres a tiny glimpse into my world outside the studio walls. Till next time :)

Yes I know I just posted some of tutu baby but we just did the second part of her session outside so I couldnt help myself :D The chair above, by the way, was an adorable little find by my friend Andrea. (Thanks Andrea)She recently went shopping in Nashville and came across this little gem and instantly knew it should belong to me <3 Tutu baby loved it too, and insisted on carrying it around everywhere her whole session,lol.

Miss "A" is quite the little ham now. Do you have any idea how hard it is to take pictures of a little one who insists on sitting practically right in your lap? lol Everytime I would try to scoot back, she would follow. I am not complaining by any means, I love 2 yr old lovin. And Miss" A" has the most big beautiful eyes, extreme closeups are a must anyway :D

The twins are more adorable everytime I see them. "T" is very independent, and Mr "Q" is quite the flirt ;)

This little one was new in the studio but I immediately fell in love with her. She is full of spunk and was such a good listener :)

The Spark

Stay with me internet, I'm about to get sentimental. I was thinking the other day what is it exactly that brought me to photography, and what specifically drew me to portraiture. I have always been fascinated by faces. As a child I was constantly drawing faces and eyes..especially eyes. I still remember sitting with my mother as a young child and she showed me how to draw a 3 dimensional face. From that day on I was hooked..with features, how shadows and light hit a persons face, the reflection in the eyes. And then it hit me what it was...its that spark. Everyone has one. You can see it in your eyes. Each spark is different and unique. Some burn bright and strong. They light up easily in from of a camera and shine. Others are a little dimmer for whatever reason or another, and they just need nurtured a little to bring it out. A child's spark is brilliant, close to the surface, easily given. But my absolute favorite are the ones who have no idea they have a spark at all, but when it shines, it shines brighter and more beautiful than all the others. Thats is what I seek, in each and every one of you and will continue to seek. I could never quite get it with my pencil or paintbrush, but for some reason, with a camera it's different.

So I have to admit, I was so nervous about the site change and fretted for a very long time about, but I need to thank you. The outpouring of love and congrats I have received has been amazing and I am so lucky to have such wonderful and amazing friends and clients. I will continue to do my very best at capturing all your special memories for you, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives :)

You may start noticing some changes around here on the website and blog. My brand spanking new website will hopefully be live this week, so stay tuned for that! Along with the website changes, pricing will also be changing a bit as well. They are subtle changes, and I have also added some Collections and new products that I am very excited about. I can't wait to share them all with you. As for pricing changes, anyone who currently has an album up, or a session booked will be honored with the old pricing. I was a little worried early that morning before the wedding because it was looking a little like it would storm. As you can see, there was no chance that was happening. I cant even believe how beautiful it was that day. It just so happens that they also picked the hottest day in september, Im convinced :D I truly love this couple, they are so sweet. Their ceremony was beautiful and touching. I love when guys get emotional seeing their ladies walk down the aisle :)

but heres a few wedding blogs to warm you up. We had an unusually warm fall this year. Going back and editing these September weddings I am still amazed at how blue the sky was :) Fall weddings are by far my favorite!

To start us off, Julie and Joe are one hot couple. I had an awesome time working with them for their engagement shoot, so I knew the wedding would be amazing. Their wedding was the epitome of all the little details I love, down to the last table runner ;) I love the look on both of their faces during the ceremony when Julie makes her entrance. You can just feel their love for each other and their girls <3>

so Ive gone on and on about how awesome my senior girls have been this year, but I cant leave out the boys because they have been equally awesome. I have a soft spot for the guys that come in the studio. Mostly because they remind me daily that this is what is to come with my own boys, but also BECAUSE I have boys, I know how they think and theres a million and one other things they would rather be doing than having their picture taken. The best tip I ever received from one of my photography mentors way back when I was a wee little photographer lass, was that guys are worried they will look stupid and to give them something to do. Hopefully I achieved my goal, and reached non-stupid ;)

The tree is officially up in the studio and I am as of this very minute adding Holiday card templates to the proofing site. When I am finished there will be 36 designs to choose from and personalize. Here are a few things to note when ordering cards:

When you enter your online album, the card designs will be located listed under products. You can choose from 4x5.5 or 5x7 flat cards and they come in sets of 24 with envelopes. Each design also has a back design, although you will only find the front design on the proofing site. Once you have put your card choice in your cart, you will then be prompted to pick your image of choice. Then once you have placed your order, make sure you include in the notes what you would like your card to say. The deadline to order cards is December 14th. Enjoy a few of my fav designs :)

For those who are still waiting on their online albums or blog previews...theyre coming I promise. I am working hard to get everything caught up. Thanks for being patient!

Jenny (jenny lin photography) and I got together and swapped family pictures. I always do my own, and this year I wanted to ham it up. ME? nooo....but I just didnt have the energy to run back and forth from the tripod, etc.. (yes I know they make remotes :P) So we combined our two families for some ADDED fun,lol (yes that was sarcasm). Surprisingly, her 2 little ones, cooperated better than my one 13 yr old. :P So heres your sneak preview. And yes, we did do some "normal" ones, although you may have learned, we are far from normal.

I have been waiting and waiting....and waiting,lol...for this girl to get married. And now that she has, I am counting down the days until she has babies :P I have known Christine for a very long time...since 6th grade! I can distinctly remember sneaking through her neighborhood on one of many slumber party nights to go toilet papering, talking to each other in sign language across the room in english about this boy or that boy, giggling about who we would someday go to prom with (for me it was dave sutter, and we would go on his skateboard..ok that was like 7th grade :D) dreaming of the day we would get married and have babies, Christine was going to have twins,lol....up to college days, driving down 75 after a night dancing or hanging out at the coffee shop, singing at the tops of our lungs, just me, Christine and Stephanie(we were known as the "triplets"lol) You can only imagine what an emotional day it was. I am just so happy that I was there to document it. I feel truly blessed to have such a beautiful friend and to have been able to be a part of her big day. They are absolutely made for one another. Ook...sooo, I did ok the whole day almost not crying..maybe a little in the car on the way there, but I maintained composure until she danced with her dad...oh geeeeezzz...I already get emotional during father daughter dances, for many reasons, but given the fact that I practically grew up with her dad myself?? gut wrenching sobbing in the corner, I was a mess,lol.

Ah, anyway...so the wedding as promised was out of this world. It was amazing from start to finish. Every last detail was thought of from the records on the tables, the guitar pick favors, the awesome band Blackberry Smoke, to Gregs jacket. OH Gregs jacket, was AMAZING. Even more amazing, was Christine. Thanks lady for including me in your day. I love you to pieces!

Harold and Meghann

ok, so you do not need to remind me how behind I am blogging the weddings. So here's a few to tide you over, but there are still much more to come. I havent forgotten all of you, I swear!!

Harold and Meghanns day was so full of emotion, and Meghann looked like a princess :) The church was this cool old church in the heart of Cincy. It was a treat for me for a change. We had a little struggle with the weather, thank goodness for pink umbrellas ;)

I'm working on some new "sets" and themes, and he just seemed like the perfect little one to try out a couple of my new toys. Get a load of those eyes...on both mommy and baby :)

Why I keep going.....

I've been stressed and worn to the bone lately. I'm not going to lie. Towards the end of summer, I was feeling beat down and a wee bit frazzled. I'm still there truthfully and fighting every second. Trying to run a business on my own, being a single parent and being in charge of 16 teenage girls now is proving to be quite a challenge, but I will get through it, just like I do everything else. And I truly love what I do, but sometimes its nice to get those reminders.

So a couple of weeks ago, I was having one of those days. I had been feeling uninspired and beat down, and in walk these two with mom and dad. Now a session like this can always go several ways, and I knew the little one MIGHT be a challenge because he was giving me the "Im not so sure about you" eyeballs. But we set out for around town, and he was a little shy at first but eventually warmed up, and big sis was a superstar from the get-go. I really just had a fantastic time with both of them. By the end of the session, my spirits had been lifted and felt a little more whole. And then when the session had ended and they were cleaning up to leave...and this folks is why I keep going...I overhear big sis saying to her mom...."I love that lady" .......gush gush...well you know what, I loved her too right then and there, and the rest of my day was complete <3
